How often does my plant need water?

Caring for your plants can sometimes seem like a chore, but with the right tips it becomes a lot easier. One of the most important aspects of plant care is of course watering. But how do you know exactly how often your plant needs water?

Watering plants with a water meter in hydroponics

When the water level of your plant is low, it is time to water the plant. Water the plant until the water meter indicates the maximum level. This amounts to approximately 1.5 liters of water for a 30 cm pot and approximately 1.2 liters for a 27 cm pot. Keep in mind that the amount of water your plant uses depends on factors such as temperature, humidity, the location of the plant and the season.

Watering per season

  • Summer: In the summer months your plant needs water on average twice a week. Due to the higher temperatures and longer daylight, more water evaporates.
  • Winter : In the winter you can take it a bit easier. Watering once a week is often enough, and sometimes even once every two weeks.

Extra tip: nutrition

In addition to water, your plant also needs nutrients to grow well and stay healthy. Therefore, give half a teaspoon of plant food, such as Superfood plant food , in the water once a month, both in summer and winter. This ensures that your plant gets enough energy to continue to shine, regardless of the season.

By paying attention to water and nutrition in this way, your plant will stay healthy and happy!
