Tips to stimulate the growth process of a plant

Spring is the growing season for houseplants. The days are getting longer and the sun is shining more often. This allows the plant to absorb more light and convert it into energy. Read below for tips to stimulate the growth process of a plant even better.

1. Dust leaves

The leaves of a plant catch a lot of dust. Every now and then it is advisable to free the leaves of dust, so that the plant can absorb more light and has extra energy for growing new leaves.

There are two ways to dust-free your plant:

  • The first way is to gently rub the leaves with a damp cloth.
  • The other way is to place the plant under the shower. To do this, remove the black rubber cap from the hydropot, so that excess water can drain away.

    2. Check the water meter more often

Plants drink 2 to 3 times as much water in the spring as they do in the winter. Now that the growing season is starting, your plants will have another growth spurt and will need extra water. Plants also evaporate more water in warm weather. Therefore, keep an eye on the water meter every week to make sure the plant gets enough water.

    3. In summer: be careful with too much sunlight

What is a good location in other seasons can be too bright in the summer. So if a plant is near the window and in full sun, place the plant a little further away from the window on sunny days. This prevents the leaves from burning. Read more tips about care in the summer here.

    4. Provide plant food

To give your plants an extra boost, it is good to regularly give Beautanic Superfood . This ensures that the leaves remain healthy and beautiful and makes your plants more resistant to pests. Half a teaspoon of food once a month is sufficient.

    5. Prune old leaves

Does the plant have discoloured, old leaves? Then spring is a good time to prune the old leaves of the plant. This gives the plant more energy to grow new leaves. The oldest leaves are mainly at the bottom of the stem or pot. If the plant is a bit bare at the bottom, cut the stem about 20 cm from the bottom, so that the plant can get new shoots.
